Gospel Music Channel Seeking Top Hip-Hop Gospel Talent

ATLANTA/NASHVILLE, Dec. 1, 2005 — Gospel Music Channel, the nation’s only 24/7 cable network dedicated to all styles of gospel music, has announced a new Friday night program dedicated to the top in hip-hop gospel. Called “Hype & Glory,” this program will air weekly at 11 p.m. Eastern Time, and is being developed by Open Rivers Pictures.

“We are searching all corners of the earth to find the best hip-hop gospel talent to feature on Gospel Music Channel, including both male and female show hosts, that will bring unique aspects of hip-hop culture to the channel,” said Tammy Johnson, CEO and executive producer of Open Rivers Pictures. “We’re also seeking out top graffiti artists, spoken word poets, break dancers and emcees – as well as deejays that aren’t afraid to turn up the heat when it comes to a little friendly competition.”

Tammy Williams is the founder and President of Open Rivers Pictures. After many years of working for various network affiliates and independent production companies as a writer/producer/editor, Mrs. Williams launched Open Rivers Pictures (2003).  She has over 20 years of experience in the broadcast arena including managing multicamera crews and producers.

This award-winning Producer has created shows for kids as well as worked on documentaries and infomercials. In 2003, Open Rivers Pictures produced Gospel Dream, the gospel music industry’s equivalent to American Idol. The show was the most highly rated show ever seen on BET in their Sunday morning timeslot.  Gospel Dream currently airs on The Gospel Music Channel. Her work has been seen on Gospel Music Channel and several other networks.

Mrs. Williams was also the senior producer for the most watched religious teaching broadcast in the world – Changing Your World with Creflo Dollar. The telecast to date is seen on 200 stations and over 50 nations worldwide and reaches over 900-million people. Mrs. Williams has also been responsible for consulting and launching several television ministry programs.

Mrs. Williams attended Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication.
